Augustus, 27 BC-AD 14. Denarius (Silver, 20 mm, 3.79 g, 6 h), uncertain mint in Spain (Colonia Patricia?), circa 20-19 BC. Laureate head of Augustus to left. Rev. Rectangular altar inscribed FORT•RED / CAES•AVG / S•P•Q•R. BMC 360. Cohen 106. RIC 54b. Beautifully toned. A few light scratches and the reverse a bit weak, otherwise, very fine.

From the Joseph Markowitz Collection (1897-1981), brought to Israel in 1949 and kept in the family ever since.
